MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday launched advanced specialty centers for orthopedic, trauma, and burn care at the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital in San Fernando, Pampanga.
The facility houses the Advanced Centers for Comprehensive Orthopedic Care and for Trauma and Burns Care that are now open to the public.
The initiative supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s health agenda to expand access to quality medical services nationwide.
The centers are equipped with a state-of-the-art integrated operating room, fully digitized surgical systems, and high-precision tools designed to support complex medical procedures, particularly in emergency cases.
Health Secretary Ted Herbosa led the inauguration of the centers, emphasizing the DOH’s commitment to delivering fast, safe, and quality healthcare services through modernization and digital transformation.
He said the specialty centers are also part of the agency’s efforts to strengthen regional healthcare facilities to reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for specialized care.
The facility includes two fully-equipped buildings dedicated to orthopedic and trauma care; three integrated operating rooms with live video consultation capabilities; three surgical theaters for various procedures; a robotic surgical system for minimally invasive and precise operations; 125-bed capacity in patient wards; specialized critical care units for orthopedic trauma and burn patients; advanced diagnostic tools such as computed tomography scans, ultrasound-guided biopsy, doppler ultrasound, and arthroscopy.
The operating rooms are also designed with hygienic air treatment systems to enhance patient and staff safety during procedures.
Basic accommodations will remain free of charge in line with standard services offered by public hospitals.
Patients can expect air-conditioned and well-ventilated rooms in the new facility.
The new centers represent a concrete step toward the Marcos administration’s vision of modern, inclusive, and accessible healthcare for all Filipinos. (PNA)
